Field Notes

Description:

Also known as Underwater Daddy-long-legs. These difficult-to-spot squat lobster feed on zooplankton, and grow to about 7.5cm in length.

Habitat:

Found in deep-water coral and rocky reefs, all over the Western Pacific.

Notes:

I was at a depth of 30m when I chanced upon this critter. I was trying to see if there was a pygmy seahorse on that sea fan, and I got something else!

Indeed! And very difficult to spot. I actually almost missed seeing it. Thanks for all your comments, Nicholas!
Thanks, Alice! Someday when I have a better underwater camera setup, I'll take better photos of this little critter. :)
