Field Notes

Description:

This tiny guy had just hatched in the past 24 hrs when I found him. I thought I had seen tiny horned lizards before (had compared them to quarters), but this guy was at least half their size; I have him on a dime in these photos and he doesn't even cover it!

Habitat:

Found him running across the road in upland mixed grass prairie after a rain.

Notes:

State reptile of TX!

Ugh of course people think that Karen, thanks for sticking up for the little guy! Do you have a link? This photo has been in a magazine and got second in a photo contest, but people will still continue to think it is fake!
I posted this spotting on facebook, iin answer to a comment in a group that a pic of a horned lizard baby going viral "must be photoshopped."
