Sharing this information because this picture itself give vision to our Mythology, Garuda Mythology In Hindu religion, Garuda is a lesser Hindu divinity, usually the mount (vahanam) of the God Vishnu. Garuda is depicted as having the golden body of a strong man with a white face, red wings, and an eagle's beak and with a crown on his head. **ref, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Garuda.
Roger on that Liam - I accept your knowledge - Thanks!
Montagu's is found in Tanzania, at least it's listed in the List of Birds of Tanzania on Wikipedia, but most Montagu's have a contrasting breast and belly. I believe the dark look to this bird is simply an element of lighting. Also, note that the facial and wing markings are not that of a male, and the white collar is often found on the female Pallid Harrier.
Havn't seen such a dark Pallid harrier Liam - There is a dark Montagues but not in Tanzania I think?
The facial disk is unique among harriers.
