Description:

approx. 6 inches diameter, appears spherical

Habitat:

spotted in weeds and grass growing in the water along edge of the St. Johns River

Notes:

I'm not positive that I should assume that it is a bird's nest.

Thanks for the tip, Atul. I'm pretty sure we don't have those here (though I wouldn't be surprised at anything anymore). But it's a reasonable direction to go in.
looks like a bird nest for sure , we have scaly breasted munias building nests like these !!
