Field Notes

Description:

It's amazing how much cover a little pine tree and some ferns can offer a large mammal. Of course this buck in velvet is fairly obvious to see in the zoomed and cropped photos, but he's a little harder to spot in the third photo.

Habitat:

The white-tailed deer is a woodland species. In North America, the species is most common east of the Rocky Mountains.

Notes:

Spotted near the Lake Allatoona Visitor's Center, Cartersville, GA
