Field Notes

Description:

This small frog was a little over an inch in length. At the time of this spotting it was a bright green color with some brown and black markings. I saw the same frog at a later date and its' coloring was more gray.

Habitat:

This little guy was found in a semi wooded suburban area. Habitat includes ponds, woods, lakes, farms, and wooded areas near water sources. I believe this is a Cope's Gray tree frog as oppose to a Gray tree frog based on the geographic location in which it was found.

Notes:

Fun Facts: 1. Offspring egg masses can number between 1-2,000. 2. They live an average of 2-7 years. 3. These frogs have a high tolerance to freezing temperatures, and when hibernating 80% of their body freezes.
