Field Notes

Description:

A quite small insect with brownish, and black colouring with stripes and a trunk like attachment at the front of its head

Habitat:

I have never seen anything like this before. I noticed it on boxing day last year at my cousins place (26/12/2016) on the side of an empty 2 litre ice cream container . Would love to know what type of insect it is. I have a feeling it might be a nymph or young version.
