Field Notes

Description:

32- 38 cm. The only crested wader of South America. Grey upperparts, brown shoulder, black chest and white underparts.

Habitat:

All South America. Lake's shores, ponds, dams, plowed fields and meadows.

Notes:

There are three or four subspecies.
