Field Notes

Description:

This is a very small, young Common House Gecko (called Butiki in the Philippines). I did not get a chance to measure it, but it was probably only a few days old. This species is very common here in the Philippines, as it is in many other tropical and sub-tropical countries (according to Wikipedia). So, it rarely attracts much attention, but this one has nice markings which are not quite so common.

Habitat:

Spotted in our backyard on some bracket mushrooms, growing on the dead and rotting trunk of a Coconut Tree (Cocos nucifera) called Niyog in the Philippines.
