Field Notes

Description:

Has bold black and white markings on head and black bib forming line, running down chest, broader in male than female. Underparts otherwise yellow and upperparts mainly greenish. Juvenile has combre plumage with no white on head. Typical song, a loud 'teecha teecha teecha'.

Habitat:

Widespread woodland resident throughout the Mediterranean region.
