Field Notes

Description:

golden-mantled ground squirrels attracted by thoughtless baiting

Habitat:

northwest montane conifer forest

Notes:

spotted at Cloud Cap viewpoint in Crater Lake National Park, where someone, despite signage prohibiting doing so, had placed peanuts on a rock wall; the squirrels, obviously habituated to being around humans, and to being presented with such illegal and ill-advised handouts, were approachable--up to a point--and easy to photograph; original media Kodak TMax100 (35mm b&w negative) film exposed using Minolta 700 si SLR with 50mm close-up lens and yellow filter; negatives subsequently scanned and images saved as digital files

I love how it's just posing in front of Crater Lake! Perfect representation of our state! :)
