With no size specified, it's sorta hard to see if it's an all-black "Wooly Bear" or a Leopard Moth caterpillar. Wooly Bear caterpillars become Isabella Moths, and Leopard Moth caterpillars become.... well... Leopard Moths. (lol). Leopard Moth Caterpillars are nearly 2x the size of Wooly Bears; I've seen them about 2 inches- unstretched. with visible red skin between the black fuzz. I'm inclined to say Leopard Moth,.
