Field Notes

Description:

black bear sow leading cub across road

Habitat:

near populated area and lakes in conifer forest on east slopes of Canadian Rockies

Notes:

spotted along road just northeast of Visitors Center at Waterton Lakes National Park; a couple of pics have poor focus--they were shot from a moving vehicle; why did the bear cross the road?

They did. Mama Bear must have been pretty mellow. An injudicious motorist approached her and Baby Bear rather closely to take photos; she ignored him.
Hope they both made it across safely!
