Field Notes

Description:

This is the first time I've seen such fly occurrence. Having seen fly images like this type on the internet, I thought it might be a type of robber fly - so identification is appreciated. (Note: it has green eyes.)

Habitat:

Back porch clothes line.

Notes:

It has been perching on the clothes line for some time. When disturbed, it flew away and came right back. And at one instance, I saw it has caught something (3rd picture).
