Hello Chris! You're right. The photo was taken from a distance and I got the idea that it was a frog, but now that I look better :) .... The species that you mention exists in Portugal, is considered an invasive species.
Hi Raquel. Your spotting is definitely a turtle, but I'm not sure of an id. I'm unfamiliar with turtles of Portugal... although it looks a lot like the Yellow-bellied Sliders (Trachemys scripta scripta) we have here.
