Neither. It is an arachnid, as are spiders and scorpions .. but this is a separate group. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arachnids details the various groups of arachnids, including Amblypygids. This is the unfortunate part about the "common name" emphasis on here .. you are forced to use what can be horribly confusing and misguiding names.
