Description:

Spiraea x billiardi is a hybrid between Spiraea douglasii a western North American species and Spiraea salicifolia an Eurasian species . It is an upright, suckering shrub that can grow 100 to180 cm tall. The flowers are rose coloured 3-8 cm panicles. After it blooms in late summer the flowers turn brown.

Habitat:

Spiraea x billiardii requires acid soil.

Thank you, Leuba. And I agree, the colour of the flowers are amazingly bright on these plants. Considering its hybrid origin, I do wonder if they were planted there or if it's a naturalised population.
