Description:

Net-marked parmelia (Parmelia sulcata), or Shield lichen, is a foliose lichen in the family Parmeliaceae. It is very tolerant of pollution and has a cosmopolitan distribution, making it one of the most common lichens. It harbours a unicellular Trebouxia green algal symbiont.-Wikipedia

Habitat:

Found on a 10 inch dia. maple tree.

Notes:

There is a small green beetle in the lower left of this picture. Not sure what type.
