Field Notes

Description:

Wikipedia says Poritia hewitsini is a small butterfly found in India, Myanmar, Thialand, Malaysia and Vietnam that belongs to Lycaenids or Blues family.

Habitat:

Hot place situated nearby a large river (Teesta) and surrounde by thick sal forests.

Notes:

While stopping on the way back home from Siliguri, West Bengal (130km away) at a wayside restaurant for lunch this beauty came to our dining table, and got busy licking it! I took some 10-12 shots of it opening its wings for a fraction of a second and managed to get one shot with fully opened wings, and I'm very happy about that!
