Field Notes

Description:

A medium-sized pipt with rather nondescript plumage comprising streaked brown upperparts and pale underparts, the latter with buffish wash to breast and steaks on throat, breast and flanks. Shows two pale wingbars and a pale supercilium. The leggs are pinkish-flesh. White outer tail feathers usually observed in flight when bird utters 'pseet-pseet-pseet' calle.

Habitat:

Favours open areas with short grass. A widespread and common winter visitor to most of the region, present October-March. Usually seen in flocks. Prior to departure in spring, sometimes heard delivering trilling, descending song in flight.
