lined gecko
Gekko vittatus
-2.56301, 140.504
Field Notes
Description:
A large specimen (14cm long, sans full tail) of an adult lined gecko with a newly regenerating tail.
Habitat:
In a house situated near other houses but within a large yard and garden, and near a patch of disturbed remnant lowland forest.
Notes:
Shares the premises with the common house geckos, Hemidactylus frenatus and flat-tailed house geckos, H. platyurus. Gekko vittatus is however the shyest of the three species of human commensals (pers obs). For a view of a small juvenile of a lined gecko (from another Papua location) see this spotting http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/8001179
