Description:

I was confused with regards to the Id. On searching many websites and books I found that this was a sub species of Kentish Plover. The bright rufous crown and contrasting head markings are absent in the resident Indian race which is shown here. White collar on nape and white wing bar. Eats insects and crabs, seen feeding with other waders. Both partners share parenting responsibilities.

Habitat:

Saw many of these today at the beach.
