Field Notes

Description:

This is a large pipit at 15cm, but is otherwise an undistinguished looking bird, mainly streaked grey-brown above and pale below with breast streaking. It has long legs and tail and a long dark bill. Sexes are similar, but juveniles have warmer brown upperparts.
It builds its nest on the ground. Like other pipits, this species is insectivorous.

Habitat:

It is found in open habitats, especially short grassland and cultivation.

This looks very much like my spotting, indeed very difficult to spot and differentiate. I shall upload more pics soon.
very true satyen they are indeed difficult to spot on ground..
They do stop after every 2-3 steps but it is difficult to spot them in the sand/stone background.
Thanks Anjali, Doina, Sachin if u notice there is a dark patch behind the bird ,i had to wait till it stepped out of that shadow and then click , its pretty easy to capture these birds because after every 2 to 3 steps they pause and look up .
Nice photograph..Lucky u always get the nice light on your subjects .. :)
