Field Notes

Description:

Looking like it was featuring a Solar eclipse on its back, this moth had a wing span of only 20 mm. Wings were slightly tented with each forewing showing a semicircular dark patch with a thin silvery rim along the inner wing margin. When at rest these markings came together to form a dark circular patch in the centre of the moth's back. The rest of the fore wings were a paler brown. Labial palps were re-curved.

Habitat:

Spotted under bright garden lights - suburb with native trees.
