Field Notes

Description:

“Jaguar” comes for the ancient indigenous name “yaguar”, which roughly means “the assassin that overcomes its prey in one attack.”
Its fur color and markings are very similar to those of the leopard, with a yellow base color and large black spots

Habitat:

Jungle and rain forest

Notes:

The third-largest feline after the tiger and the lion, and the largest in the western hemisphere. Beautiful and magnificent. Unfortunatelly the jaguar is a threatened species due to habitat loss and human conflicts.
It was sad to me seeing this captive jaguar being displayed as part of a circus parade that visited my city. Why should circuses use wild animals as part of their shows???
