Field Notes

Description:

Red and pretty. Also has some black tail feathers. I am not good at describing birds.

Habitat:

Forest. Chilling in a maple tree.

Notes:

I saw it in the same area every so often, had to compete with it to get my insects. This is a breeding bird in Ohio during the summer, when the males develop this red plumage. It lives in the forest canopy and prefers the forest interior. Found at Barbara A. Beiser Field Station.
