Field Notes

Description:

I have been seeing a Little Owl in this location for more years than I can remember, but always only one. I always take a photo from a distance first to see if it is there because frequently when I get closer it has gone into hiding, usually deep inside the square hole. Imagine my surprise when looking through the pictures on my PC I saw a second one, just below the first, isible in the first two pictures. In the third pic there is some stonework which can give the impression that there is something there so I have learnt to treat anything seen there as suspicious. Now I will need to look closely every time and double check every picture I take just in case. It is often not possible to get any closer than where the third picture was taken from, still a couple of hundred metres away.

Habitat:

Coastal marshes, in an old derelict house which is still occupied!
