Description:
Measuring up to 2 inches long, it is one of the largest known "click" beetles in the Elateridae family. When disturbed, the beetle launches itself high into the air with an audible click. The large false eye-spots are used to startle and confuse predators.
Habitat:
It's has a widespread range in eastern and central North America. It's favored habitat is deciduous/mixed forests and woodlands.
