Assassin bug exuvia
Zelus luridus
39.4192, -81.3555
Field Notes
Description:
~2 centimeters long, white and brown. The long tube under the head shows the sucking mouth part of a true bug (Order Hemiptera), and the body structure identifies it as assassin bug.
Habitat:
Forest
Notes:
Most likely, this is the shed nymphal skin of a common green assassin bug, Zelus luridus. There were many other nymphs and adults in the vicinity, so it's probably the owner. Found at Barbara A. Beiser Field Station.
