Field Notes

Description:

A very tiny male Glow-Worm Beetle. Males are fragile and winged with distinctive antennae. Females are larviform and most have bioluminescence. This one was so small at only 4 mm, that I didn't know what it was until I saw the pictures. Family Phengodidae.

Habitat:

Came to an ultraviolet light in the garden, San Cristobal de Las Casas, 2,200 meters.
