Habitat:

spotted on playground in county park

Notes:

This butterfly had orange on the upper surface but I didn't get a good look at it.

Appreciate that ID, floridagirl. I thought it was a varigated fritillary. I spotted one earlier this year in the same park: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/6024079
This was a tricky ID! Based on your glimpse of orange, I feel fairly confident that this is a Variegated Fritillary. They're not all that common this far south, so this is a really cool sighting!
