Not a word. Sometimes with them silence is tacit approval though and after searching through the galleries at museum and CSIRO I am convinced of Miridae. I am going with that. Still hoping for genus.species.
Any news from your experts??
Ahh you've gone Miridae too.. that makes me happier. I'll see if our museum people can help. Thanks!
I am sceptic about Lygaeidae. I am tending to Miridae, but did not find a reasonable match. Phylinae?? Just some wild links for your studies... http://www.brisbaneinsects.com/brisbane_miridbugs/RedMiridBug.htm http://www.discoverlife.org/mp/20q?search=Ancoraphylus https://www.flickr.com/photos/29697818@N03/5190763794/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/lifeunseen/9200895302/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/jean_hort/7056641305/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/jean_hort/2645237153/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/zosterops/8181456902/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/69610519@N08/10901862135/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/69610519@N08/14067797258/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/69610519@N08/14604760785/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/69610519@N08/11581147493/in/pool-australianbugs https://www.flickr.com/photos/perth_museum_and_art_gallery/6847938082/in/photostream/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/70626035@N00/7568890394/in/photostream/ http://bie.ala.org.au/species/MIRIDAE#tab_gallery Take this link and #3 and download the pps presentation (9 MB), very interesting: http://research.amnh.org/pbi/news/presentations.html Tons of links, but no match. I hope I am right with the family and me not putting you in the wrong direction ;-( Maybe we should not forget these ones: http://www.brisbaneinsects.com/brisbane_lygaeoidbugs/Rhyparochromidae.htm
Ha ha !! Serves me right for putting things up as fast as I can. Thanks Doc.
I think it is a reddish penguin. There are no Lygidae, but Lygaeidae. Just in case you were lost in the Australian ice desert during looking for penguins ;-)
