There were 3 females on the other side of the creek from me.

It is interesting how they vary. As far south as we are their coats are likely a lot less insulating than their northern counter parts. Maybe that is some of the explanation.
so interesting to see that our whitetailed deer (in northern alberta, canada) have different coloring, no white coloring... (in summer they are all reddish brown, in winter greyish).
