Field Notes

Description:

The description of the mushroom that I think I found is that the stalk is black, the cap is black, and the rest of the mushroom is black also. The kingdoms of the mushroom called the black trumpet is...
Kingdom: Fungi
Phylum: Basidiomycota
Class: Agaricomycetes
Order: Cantharellales
Family: Cantharellaceae
Genus: Craterellus
Species: C. cornucopioides
Those are the classifications of the black trumpet.

Habitat:

The habitat of the black trumpet mushroom that I think I found is that the mushroom was next to a stump popping out of the leaves. As I moved some leaves there was a lot more mushrooms that were the same as the one that I think I identified as the black trumpet.

Notes:

My field notes are that my group and I were walking through the edge of the trail and we spotted this mushroom that I think I later identified as the Black Trumpet. There was pine, and oak trees all around the mushroom. I think that their leaves were the ones that covered the rest of the mushrooms. I also found a huge oak leaf about 15ft away from the spot that I found the mushroom. I hope that I have identified my mushroom as the black trumpet.
