Description:
The day that started really bad, but quickly changed the sides of a coin (see my previous Martial Eagle spotting for details), it ended gloriously, with an unplanned invitation to "chase" the Kori in sunset (thank you Theo)... Kori bustard is a large, easily recognised, ground-dwelling bird of Africa. Some sources state that Kori is the heaviest flying bird - it does fly, but reluctantly. The male is about 1,20 m in height, with brown body and black-and-white pattern on wings, grey legs, long and massive grey neck and blackish crown
Habitat:
Seen in Kunene region of Namibia (northwest), arid open acacia tree-and-shrub landscape. Very dry (but still magnificent and rich in wildlife) at the moment, following a three-year dry-spell.
