Description:

I found the woolly bear caterpillar while I was on walk with friends. Its scientific name is Pyrrharctia isabella. The woolly bear is black caterpillar you know when the caterpillar is ready to turn to a chrysalis when they’re all orange. They can be 1-1 1/2” long. Then they change into a tiger moth. The moth’s wingspan is 4.5-6.5 cm. Their habitat is cities, suburbs, towns, and open fields. Their range is the western U.S to eastern U.S. Fun Fact: When their frightened they curl up in a ball.
