@ Ava,this looks like a coopers hawk to me. Look at the pattern on the tail.
Welcome to Project Noah; nice first spotting! I don't think this is a red-tail however. It's more likely a juvenile red-shouldered hawk but I'm not certain. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red-shouldered_Hawk
