Description:

The Spangled Skimmer is differentiated from similar blue dragonflies by the black and white pterostigmas located on the leading edge of all four wings, toward the wingtips. Photo 1 of 2 is a copy of the original photograph, annotated to highlight the pterostigma on the left hindwing (facing forward); Photo 2 of 2 is the original photograph.
