Field Notes

Description:

Small, scruffy gray with black patches along its back.

Habitat:

Forest, on the bark of trees.

Notes:

I had to find a few of these caterpillars before I became convinced that they weren't the shriveled remains of an earlier caterpillar. They look very scruffy, and I thought that they were dead when I first came upon them. Found at Barbara A. Beiser Field Station.
