Description:
The distinctive coloration of this insect is unmistakable - red thorax, bluish wings, and light-green legs. Nothing else in the area looks anything like this. What you can't see on this specimen is that his left wing is clear, apparently a modification to enhance the cricket's stridulation (typically called "chirping".)
Habitat:
Range: Southeast U.S. north to Massachusetts, excluding South Florida. Habitat: Found in vegetation near streams and marshes, about a meter above the ground.
