Black-legged Kittiwake

A small gull, nesting in the arctic and wintering mostly offshore, distinguished from other species by smaller size, pure black wingtips (no white as in larger gulls), unmarked yellow bill, and black feet. In winter, adults develop a gray smudge on the head.
