Field Notes

Description:

A small, very brightly coloured kingfisher, with red feet and a red beak. It is only 13 centimetres (5.1 in) in length.

The malachite kingfisher (Alcedo cristata) is a river kingfisher which is widely distributed in Africa south of the Sahara.

Habitat:

Seen along the Kazinga Channel between Lake George and Lake Edward.
