I found this weird cocoon with a hole on the back side and there was a little jumping spider inside it

Hopefully the moth left and it has not been predated :-)
Thanks for the info martinl, I was thinking that the yellow thing was a kind of fungus and that the spider made the hole to eat the cocoon
I would guess this is a moth like one of those woolly bears. They often cover their cocoons with their spines to aid in camouflage. It has emerged, and flown away and a new tenant moved into its empty home. Cool.
