Field Notes

Description:

•Very large bird.
•Long neck.
•Long Legs.
•Gray body, may be stained reddish.
•Red forehead.
•White cheek.
•Tufted feathers over rump.

Habitat:

Small lake (Floating Island Lake) at approx. 6500 ft. elevation.

Notes:

This nesting site is used on a regular basis by cranes. Cinnamon Teal seen in background.

Returned later in the day to observe 2nd crane arrivng to help with nesting duties.
