Field Notes

Description:

These bees are critically endangered and are subject to a program of artificial reproduction of nests in Southern Mexico. Centuries ago, they were very common on the wild and intensively breed by the maya indians for honey and wax production.
Nest are "chaotic" compared with honeybees, with honey and pollen stored in large pots and youngs growing on small cells.
