Field Notes

Description:

I heard a loud insectoid mid-air collision, and then this appeared on a cattail leaf. Apparently the female is not always an initially willing participant in this activity, and the males come swooping in and grab them. I'm guessing from this pose here, though, that she has given in. This lasted less than a minute and then they parted ways.

Habitat:

In the marshy areas around the boardwalk of Huntley Meadows.

Ah! Thanks for clearing that up - I'll remove it from the DC-only one.
Great capture Ashley! We will look into the duplicate missions.
Thanks! And thanks for the mission suggestions. It looks like there are redundant missions though, no? "Wildlife of Metropolitan Washington, D.C." and "Wildlife of Washington, D.C."
I suggest you add this spotting to the Global Dragonflies & Damselflies mission too. http://www.projectnoah.org/missions/6524202
