Description:

A couple of Sharp-shinned Hawk nesting in a Araucaria angustifolia. Parents constantly bringing prey to the two chicks, who have risked their first flights away from the nest.

Liam, Accipiter striatus ventralis or Accipiter ventralis (full species) does not occurs here in southwest region from Brazil. His range are north of South America. This ones in the photos posted here are from subspecies erythronemius (Accipiter striatus erythronemius). Some authors recognize erythronemius as a full species, but not reconized here in Brazil. The CBRO (Comitê Brasileiro de Registros Ornitológicos) considers erytronemius a subspecies from Accipiter striatus.
