Field Notes

Description:

My mushrooms cap was black with a hint of brown, it had little spikes on the cap also. The stem color was a grayish brown and looked kind of shiny. There were no gills, and no spore print color. The Kingdom is fungi, the Division is Basidiomycota, The Class is Agaricomycetes, the Order is Boletales, the Family is Boletaceae, the Genus is Strobilomyces, and the Species is S.Strobilaceus. Our mushroom was dry and the cap size is small and the shape is round. There were some pine trees around our mushroom to.

Habitat:

I found my mushroom on the edge of the woods at Massabesic Middle School. It just had snowed a week before. We found it under a pile of wet and soggy leaves.
