Description:

A Green Frog, I think.

Habitat:

He lived most of the summer in this base of a portable Basketball hoop. The base of it has 2 inches of sand. The cap is missing on the base, so rainwater collected and filled the rest of the base. The hole is 3" in diameter.

No, definitely the green frog. I just did research last night on the Internet to determine the difference and the green frog has a fold of skin that reaches from its ear down its back on each side, the bull frog does not. You can see that fold in this photo. Bullfrog is much rarer in Michigan (especially Lower Peninsula) than most think.
Try the American Bullfrog (Rana catesbeiana).
