Field Notes

Description:

Fairly large-bodied squirrels with a grey-ish back and grey-highlighted fluffy tail, and a light colored belly. Most times of the morning and afternoon I could walk outside and hear these squirrels chittering from the treetops as they munched on fruits.

Habitat:

A lush yard near Lake Killarney in central Florida. The trees are tall, bushes thick and plants well-watered. It's a very friendly place for flora and fauna.
These squirrels avoid the golden retriever that roams the yard by sticking to the tops of the queen palms that abound on the perimeter - which also keeps them nicely in reach of all the fruit that the queen palms produce.
